Tools Design was founded in 1989 by Claus Jensen and Henrik Holbæk. Today the studio is located in an industrial area in north west Copenhagen, Denmark. With more than 200 awards and distinctions Tools Design rank amongst Denmark’s most awarded designers.Tools Design logo

The Tools Design portfolio ranges from electronics and medical equipment to household products. The strength of the studio is to manage product design and communication to create lifestyle design and their design philosophy is to put “something extra” into their products.

Though billed as a knife stand, any kitchen tool can be stored in this sleek piece.  The exterior is aluminum.  The interior is plastic, removable for cleaning.

Tools Design created the stand for Eva Solo. The angled stand is available from the MoMA store for $130.  There is a flat top stand as well. Eva Solo logo

The stand has won some prestigious awards including Form 2000 (Tendence Frankfurt, Germany), Red Dot 2000 (Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen, Germany), The International Design Yearbook 2001, and IF Design Award 2001 (Industrie Forum Design Hannover, Germany).
