I've got the "scandia by beacon" spinner in front of me. Growing up we used it as an excercise device, standing on it and rotating the upper body back and forth.

I'm doing a little more research on it. It seems there was an exercise/stationary bike called the "Scandia" produced by Beacon Enterprises, Inc., of Yonkers, N.Y. in the late 70's.

I vaguely recall that proper use involved placing it on the floor in front of the bike and holding on to the handles for support/balance while rotating at the torso -- to tone the midsection.
I can't find a conclusive image, and I don't recall this particular bike... but it seems they *might* go together.
