Gino Colombini was born in 1915 in Milan, Italy. He collaborated with Franco Albini between 1943 and 1953. Between 1953 and 1960, he was technical director of Kartell. After a time producing ware for the laboratory, Kartell, under the direction of Colombini, began producing utilitarian ware for the home. He is one of the pioneers of plastic design.

The model 1476 carpet beater (Battipanni) is equally simple and elegant in its execution. For this particular object, the 1476 designation was later changed to 8476. Although it was produced in other colors, this one is red. eBay item 160749040111 ends March 8, 2012 at 10:41:55 PST (Italy).
