An update to my post of September 11, 2009, the In Attesa wastebasket by Enzo Mari for Danese. When it rains it pours.  Two more of these wastebaskets sold on eBay recently, an example in yellow and and an example in red.  For the yellow one that sold on September 14, there were 2 bidders who placed 3 bids. The winning bid was $36.00 (with $15 shipping).  

For the red one that sold on September 12, there were 2 bidders who placed 11 bids. The winning bid was $64.00 (with $11 shipping).

Giardinaggio gardening set | Enzo Mari | Alessi, Italy | 1999

The Giardinaggio gardening set by Enzo Mari was produced by Alessi in 1999 and given the designation EM08.  It is no longer in production.  For a brief biography of Enzo Mari, click here.  One of the objects is a spade, the other is a five-pronged rake.  Both have small scoopers at the opposite end.

The pair is sometimes referred to as a pasta or salad set, which I guess it could be used for. A hint that those uses are not the original intent is that the previous design in Enzo Mari’s Alessi catalog, EM07 Paletta da giardinaggio, is a gardening trowel. Still, the possible repurposing of the “gardening set” is an interesting prospect!
