Vintage modern plastic design: September 23-29, 2013

Here are the items shared the week of September 23, 2013.  Included were a lamp, a butter dish, a clock radio, a box, and a collection of photo frames.

Tuesday, September 24:  Moon lamp by Crayonne, England.  Measures 8” height.

Tuesday, September 24:  Daisy print butter dish.  Measures 7” by 3”.  No makers mark.

Wednesday, September 25:  Sony Solid State Digimatic flip alarm clock radio. 

Thursday, September 26:  Acrylic box in reds, oranges, and yellows.  Measures approximately 7” on a side.

Saturday, September 28:  Three vintage plastic photo frames in different colors.  Green frame measures 5-1/2” diameter, yellow frame measures 3-1/2” square and brown frame measures 4-1/2” square.

Vintage modern plastic design: September 16-22, 2013

Here are the items shared the week of September 16, 2013.  Included were a colander, storage, and a variety of clocks.

Monday, September 16:  Blue polypropylene colander by Enzo Mari for Alessi. The colander has 3 feet and 2 handles. One handle has a wide hole for hanging.  At top the colander measures 10” diameter and it is 5-1/4” in height.

Wednesday, September 18:  Red, three drawer storage unit made of red acrylic.  The cube is made from 3/16” thick sheets fused at the edges.  Drawers are 1/8” thick and drawer fronts are 1/4” thick.  Unmarked.  Measures approximately 15” on a side and weighs 17 pounds.

 

Saturday, September 21:  Analog alarm clock with a flip calendar.  AA battery operated.  Measures 7 -1/4” length and 4” height.

Sunday, September 22: Four alarm clocks by Dieter Rams for Braun.

Vintage modern plastic design: September 9-15, 2013

Here are the items shared the week of September 9, 2013.  It was a busy week this week, but managed to post about a paper plate holder, an ottoman, and a rattle toy.

Tuesday, September 10:  Serva plate fish shaped paper plate holders.

Thursday, September 12:  Vintage 1975 “Mr. Beads” lime green bean bag ottoman for a bean bag chair.  Measures 16” by 10”.

Saturday, September 14: Plastic diamond ring rattle toy.  Measures 4-1/2” tall with a handle that is 3-1/8” in diameter.

Vintage modern plastic design: September 2-8, 2013

Here are the items shared the week of September 2, 2013.  Included were sunglasses, three clocks of different color, and an ice bucket.

Tuesday, September 3:  Yellow sunglasses.  Marked Italy.

Wednesday, September 4:  Yellow Krups alarm clock, made in West Germany.  Comfortime 3 series - Type 627.  Constructed from plastic with central dial in black. Hands, digits, numerals and alarm window are finished in white with a neon orange seconds hand that sweeps rather than ticks. To set the alarm, adjust at the back. To turn the alarm off, press down on the clock case.  Measures 12cm long by 9cm height by 8cm depth.

Friday, September 6:  Denmark Danish Design by Erik Magnussen for Stelton. Ice bucket is a hard white plastic.  This is a smaller style ice bucket which is around 8-1/2” in diameter and about 6” in height.

Saturday, September 7:  Glossy green spherical clock with a transparent plastic face by Storch.  Operates on C battery.  Measures 7” diameter on front face and is 9” in height.

Sunday, September 8: RCA clock radio with tulip base.  Marked “DIAL JAPAN”.  Uses 1 9V and 1 AA battery.

Vintage modern plastic design: August 26-September 1, 2013

Here are the items shared the week of August 26, 2013.  Included were a shower organizer, a floor lamp, wall panels, and tumblers.

Tuesday, August 27:  White plastic Crayonne shower organizer.  Consists of two shelves, 3 pegs, and a magnetic soap hanger to the underside of one shelf.

Wednesday, August 28:  Smoked acrylic floor lamp.  Large size and impressive presence. Measures 37” tall.

Saturday, August 31:  Strömma wall panels by Asa Gray for Ikea.  Each box contains three 11-3/4” by 11-3/4” white panels.  They are designed so the wavy, fluid pattern repeats horizontally.  There are molded hooks on the back for hanging on a wall.

Sunday, September 1:  Selection of 12, two part plastic tumblers.  Six tall 5-1/4” tall cups and six short 3-1/4” cups.  Color schemes in earthier tones.  No maker mark.
